About Cedar City

Cedar City is situated where the desert meets the mountains in southern Utah. It’s a mecca for outdoor enthusiasts, offering everything from mountain biking to hiking and skiing. Cedar City is a perfect place for families seeking education, connected rural living, and almost every type of activity and entertainment.

Often called “Festival City,” the area is home to a Tony Award-winning Shakespeare Festival, the Utah Summer Games, and other cultural venues including the Southern Utah Museum of Art. Two post secondary institutions — Southern Utah University and Southwest Technical College — are a positive force in the city, supporting a growing tech-based ecosystem.
