About Newport

Situated along the White River in northeast Arkansas, Newport is a city of approximately 8,000 residents located about 90 miles northeast of Little Rock. As the county seat of Jackson County, Newport serves as a regional hub for education, commerce, and community life.

Rooted in history and surrounded by natural beauty, Newport offers access to outdoor recreation at nearby Jacksonport State Park, a historic site that celebrates Arkansas’s early river trade. The city blends small-town character with forward-looking momentum, supported by a strong sense of place and pride among its residents.
