Scalable tech entrepreneurship is, in some ways, the apex of a digital economy ecosystem. Startups are a key source of job creation, and the ones that scale can transform a community and create regenerative wealth.
Communities need to be able to connect capable workers with opportunities in the technology industry. This requires them to have a sufficient mix of locally-based digital employers and remote work opportunities.
To create inclusive rural prosperity, rural opportunity also has to be inclusive across race and gender. Contrary to popular perception, rural America is far less white than stereotypes suggest, and rural racial disparities often exceed urban gaps.
Now is a moment where we need to think big and to work collaboratively in solving the geographic economic challenges of our country. Forming a strong community of practice is a great place to start.
