Traverse City, Michigan

Traverse City‘s natural beauty and quality of life have made it a multi-season destination for years. Recently, though, the creation of the tech incubator 20Fathoms has added another dimension to the community: A physical space that helps link the area’s entrepreneurship support network and access to capital to create a hotspot for innovation and growth.

See how this rural community in northern Michigan, a place where agriculture and tourism have long dominated the local economy, is “growing together” and building momentum as an ecosystem equipped to support exciting, 21st-century businesses.

The Rural Edge series

At CORI, we have a saying: once you’ve seen one rural community, you’ve seen one rural community.

America’s small towns are diverse and dynamic, and through our work with our Rural Innovation Network, we have the privilege of working in depth with 28 communities building digital economy ecosystems. To highlight these incredible places, Siegel Family Endowment and the Walmart Foundation provided funding for us to create video case studies highlighting our communities’ efforts.
